Spaces in Between a site-specific installation by New York artist Alison Owen. Quiet and subtle, Owen's work develops a parasitic relationship with its host environment. Elements of installations lurk behind furniture or fixtures, or echo the shapes of the wall's molding. What appears to be a shadow reveals itself to be a strip of grey paint. A piece of patterned
wallpaper merges with a similarly colored watercolor form,
painstakingly painted. It is over time that the eye becomes attune to these shifts and nuances, separating the work from its surroundings.
