In conjunction with Portland Modern, Tilt Gallery and Project Space is pleased to present new work by Jonathan Leach and Amy Steel. Leach’s paintings vibrate with color, calling to mind the pulsating new landscape of strip malls and billboards. The spaces created by commercial saturation are reorganized, allowing the viewer to translate this environment through there own personal dialectic. Steel uses soft, tactical sculptures and printed mediums to investigate pop iconography in contemporary American culture. Her installation uses humor to exacerbate this consumption driven void.
